3 Weeks Old already!!

Time is going by even faster with 2 kids!! Drayke is 3 weeks old already and Brock is almost 22 months. Everyone is doing very well and healthy. Drayke seen his doctor 2x since we got out of the NICU and he gave him a good bill of health. He gained almost 1 lb in 1 week, he eats non stop!

Draykes Home...Again

Ohh, how much one little guy can scare his parents is amazing! Drayke got to take his first Helicopter ride on Sunday, March 29th. We went to put him to bed and had noticed that he seemed a little chilly. We checked his temperature andit was a cool 96.5. We callthe the ER and they instructed us to wrap him up in two blankets with a complete outfit on (socks, onsie, hat, outfit) and leave him alone for 30 min then take his temp again. Well we did this and his temp 45 minutes later was 95.9. We knew something was not right. I took him to the ER around midnight on the 29th. When we got there his temp had fallen again. They put him under teh warmer adn started runing tests. By 1am, I got the devistating news that he was going to be flown to St Josephs Childrens Hospital in Marshfield. My heart sank and I called Twig (he had to stay home with Brock) When Twig arrived, we found out that he was Hypothermic and there was not much time to spare, they did not know what was causing this body temp to fall but he would have to undergo numerous tests to find out. They did a spinal tap, x-rays, bloodwork and god only knows what else. When the helicopter arrived, that is when it all sank in and I really got scaredand went off the deep end. It was the worst feeling in the entire world to see your baby being hooked up to monitors and tubes in orfices and being handles by others. He had to have a tube down hisnose to help with the pressure of flying and earmuffs on for noise and vital monitors. He was whisked off into the helicopter and we were left wondering what was happening to our little boy for the long 2 hour drive to Marshfield. Once we arrived, Drayke was already in his isolette and the neonatologist was checking him out. She asked us a million questions but was very knowledgable and very comforting. I did get to hold him to feed when we arrived, that was much needed to calm my nerves. He spent 4 days in the NICU. All the tests slowly came back all with negative results. It was deemed a viral infection which caused all of this and his immune system was immature. He was treated with the most aggressive bacterial and viral antibiotics that he could be. They do this becuase most of the bacterial cultures take 72 hours to grow and if there was a bad bacterial infection, he would not have 72 hours to wait without risking death or brain damage. He was poked so many times and had numerous IV's in his head (he kept pulling them out!!!) But when he pulled the 2nd IV line out of his head, they had to surgically put an IV line into his ambilical cord so that he could receive his Anti's and his meds. He is sucha strong little guy! It is wonderful to be home with BOTH of our boys to start our normal lives again, We thank all of you for yout thoughts and prayers, they are greatly appreciated!!

Welcome Drayke

Drayke was born at 5:23pm on March 27th, 2009.

Weight: 6 lbs, 11.9 oz

Length: 19"

My induction story, I was was admitted to the hospital at 6am on Friday. I was put in my room and filled out all the fun paperwork that was required. I also found out that Tiff would be my nurse and that was super exciting. I was dialated to a 2 and 50% upon arrival. No contractions. I was given my first does of Cervadil at 6:30 am. At 9:30 am, no change so I was given another dose. Doctor Abrams came in at 12:40 to check me and I was at a 5 and 80% but still no contrctions that I was feeling. He broke my water at 12:50pm. I then started having contractions 2 minutes apart but they were not too bad. My body kicked in with the good contractions shortly after. At 3pm I asked for an epideral becuause I could not handle the contractions. 3:30 or so I had the epideral and it was such a positive experience compared to Brocks labor. It was painless and fast. I was checked because I was feeling pressure at 4:30, I was complete and ready to push. Baby was still pretty high so I choose to let him labor down until I could not stand the pressure anymore. I said I wanted to push at 5:18 and at 5:23pm Drayke was born with 2 pushes. I had no tears or required any treatment. Drayke came out screaming and so darn cute. I have no swelling, nothing. I could not have asked for a better delivery or anything. We are home (Saturday afternoon) and everyhting is wonderful.

Brock was very excited to meet Drayke and he is the first thing he asked for this morning, "Momma, Baby Drayke get up now too?" He likes to hold him and he always finds a blanket and pillow and askes for Drayke to lay by him to watch TV or to cuddle. It is amazing to know that we are blessed to have both of these healthy and wonderful boys. We can't wait to watch them grow up. I will get some pictures from my camera up here sometime this week.

Brock's First Time Bowling & Ethans Birthday

On Saturday, Feb 7th we took Brock bowling for the first time for Ethan's 4th Birthday Party. He loved it. He tried his hardest to pick up the balls and throw them (yes, throw them) but he is a little small yet. He did not get the concept of rolling them. It was nice to see all the old frinds we don't see much anymore and nice for Brock to play with other kids close to his age. Plus, I think Brock and Ethan were in heaven there was just them 2 for the boys and other 6 kids were all ittle girls.

Grammy's house and 33 week check

Grammy had a full day with all 4 grandbabies on Monday. She had Dominic, Mason, Brock and Taylor to fight with. They played outside a couple times in the snow (well now, slushy mix) with the puppies. They sure do have fun over there!! I don't know how she has the energy to keep up with them.

I went to the doctor yesterday too. Brock came with to see all the nurses who constantly ask for him to visit. He loves it beacuse they load him up with stickers and candy. Well baby and mom are doing well. My blood pressure was excellent, my total weight gain is up to 6lbs ( that excited me!!) and baby's heartbeat was 136, right in line to where it should be. He is definately still breech so hopefully we can coax him to flip over the next 2 weeks or so. If not, we will try doing an adversion at the hospital or do a c-section. I would like to avoid the c-section if possible but this kid just ain't listning to my threats if he doesn't turn! Those darn stubborn boys!!

Blue Harbor Weekend

Wow, that was such a fun weekend!! Brock had a blast in the waterpark and it was pretty fun for the adults too! We had a great condo and it was nice that all 15 of us got to stay together in one unit. We played games after the kids went to bed and Guitar Hero and just talked and laughed. Nice to have some adult only time with people who you don't see very often. We will be going back there soon, it was so much fun. Rumor has it we have a condo booked for October already!! I would recommend it to anyone who has kids looking for a quick winter getaway!

Update

Well, we are anxiously awaiting our little guy to arrive in a short 8 weeks (or hopefully less)!! This pregnancy has flown by so fast. Brock is almost 20 months old already and that is so sad, he is becomming such a little man, growing out of the baby stage every day. He insists on doing everything himself. He must put his own shoes ona nd pull up his own pants and brush is own teeth!! Some days it is a huge help and other days, just way too time consuming. We leave tomorrow to head to Blue Hrabor Resort for a long weekend away from home! We are meeting some of Twigs family there for a relaxing weekend at the waterpark and since it will be our last little get away beofre Drayke arrives, I am so looking forward to it! I will post picures when we get back next week!!
